The Mayor’s Blue Ribbon Committee on Sustainable Practices
The Mayor’s Blue Ribbon Committee on Sustainable Practices has worked to formalize, promote and expand on the sustainable actions that the City of Portsmouth has taken over the past several years. The Committee has assisted in bringing the sustainability concept to the Community through raising awareness and promoting sustainable activities. The Committee has begun work on a five year plan that will support the City in meeting its vision of being an Eco-Municipality. The plan will center on supporting the use of The Natural Step’s four system objectives within the Portsmouth community, the City government, and the region. The plan will strive to create a process whereby citizens and government can work together to obtain the information necessary to make good decisions regarding the many areas that relate to sustainability.
